Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. (Psalm 33:1)
An order came into my mailbox today for two of my music CDs. I was overflowing with blessings! It has been a long time since anyone has ordered the CDs that now sit in my basement, taking up space for no good reason. I had thought I could bless a friend last week by sending her two CDs in gratitude for her help. She wrote back a note to say, “Thank you for sending your music. I wish I had something to play it on!” Sigh. It is true that CDs are now a faded relic, rendered useless as digital music took over. A nostalgic sadness filled my heart as I thought about the glorious days when songs were downloaded from heaven on a regular basis, and my life was filled with melodies and words that I was transcribing from God’s heart onto paper and then recording to share with others. “Oh Father,” I cry out, “how I miss those days!” I got very still before Him and heard His answer: “Daughter, your life is now your song. Your laying down of your life is a sweet fragrance and it’s getting sweeter and sweeter. I am still here with you and we still make melody together. Your praise and worship before me is your song. You don’t have to write songs in this season; you are living them. Your life is the song.” I pray this speaks to you in this season when it seems many of us have lost the opportunity to move in the gifts we once were given. I believe the Lord was showing me - and illustrating for you - that a life wholly surrendered to Him, no matter how small or insignificant it seems , is a song. It is worship. And if it seems to you that nobody sees or notices the quiet way you are serving Him by serving someone else, then hallelujah! HE is the one for whom we live. So keep singing! Your life is the song.
