The Seller of Oil

I remember a few years back on this blog I wrote about the ten virgins in Matthew 25 and what the oil in their lamps really represented.  I had been pondering those verses a long time, wondering WHAT it could be that I would not share with others when they so desperately asked for it. As a missionary and evangelist in those days, I could not imagine what would cause me to say to those who wanted some of my oil, "Go and buy some for yourself."  It seemed impossibly rude and selfish! But then the Spirit revealed to me that the ONE THING I could not give someone else is my INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH YESHUA.  As much as I might want to give that to others, I cannot. They have to develop that relationship with Him for themselves, seeking His face, studying His Word, spending time in prayer. 

On the morning before the Passover came in, John and I had the great joy of watching a two-hour livestream called EYES ON THE KING, produced and streamed by the amazing people at Frontier Alliance International. Centered in Israel and the Middle East, this powerful ministry is spear-heading a great move of the Holy Spirit in the Middle East (and now worldwide).  The two-hour livestream featured brief messages from pastors all over the world, who are discovering how far we REALLY ARE from the original intent of the apostles in building and growing the Body of Messiah.  One of the pastors, who is in Germany, gave his message on "The Seller of Oil."  My ears perked up as I heard this curious phrase, Seller of Oil. Who is that? 

I am sorry I don't recall the pastor's name, but his message took me even further in the revelation of the ten virgins in Matthew 25. He said, "My job is to be an oil salesman. May this time of the Corona Virus WAKE UP THE BRIDE TO SOMETHING ANCIENT.  May it awaken the people of God to desire the oil that only five of the virgins possessed."  Then he went on to speak about this present time as a season when those five virgins who run out of oil will be coming to US to buy more. He said, "Maybe the oil salesman could have convinced the virgins to buy more. Right now it's a buyer's market and the price is right! We need to tell them, "Buy more and buy lots!"

I was moved by this. Even though we are shut in our homes, we can use the internet; we can use brief conversations at the grocery store and the over the table and the telephone.  What a huge percentage of the Church seems to know ABOUT Jesus, but has no intimate relationship with Him at all.  Maybe we could convince them that now is a good time to buy!  In Revelation 3:18 Yeshua speaks to the lukewarm church of Laodicea and says, "Buy from Me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich." Gold and oil! The world's two most revered, sought-after commodities! But Yeshua is not speaking of worldly commodities; He is speaking of the economy of Heaven, the gold and the oil that give a believer a rich, everlasting inheritance with Him. And only those who KNEW Him here in this earthly journey will receive that inheritance. To those who do not surrender to Him and pursue the Narrow Way with Him, He will say, "Depart from Me, you workers of iniquity; I never KNEW you."

Our job in this present season is to be oil salesmen. Let us exhort those whom we can reach to "buy more and buy lots!"

This video is a powerful reminder that while the world is focused on a virus, WE CAN BE FOCUSED ON THE SOON RETURN OF OUR BRIDEGROOM-KING!
