Captain of the Angel Armies

Although it's a bit late I am up reading on the Telegram Channel to learn what is happening in the Middle East since Israel launched an attack that killed some of Iran's top generals.  The information I found indicated that the C.I.A. is warning Israel to be prepared for many drone and missile attacks over the next 48 hours in various places.

I found myself calling upon the name Adonai Tzva'ot !  It is a Hebrew name referring to Yeshua (Jesus) and in English it is usually translated Captain of the Angel Armies, or Lord of the Heavenly Host. This name is found in Joshua 5:13-15:
Now it came about when Joshua was by Jericho, he raised his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand, and Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” He said, “No; rather I have come now as Captain of the Angel Armies.”  And Joshua fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down and said to him, “What has my Lord to say to his servant?”  And the captain of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Joshua prostrated himself on the ground before this powerful, radiant man because he understood who He was. I believe that right in that very moment he came to realize that he himself was not actually the captain in charge of Israel. In fact, this glorious Commander with drawn sword did not even indicate that He was taking sides. He was not obliged to reveal to Joshua what the divine strategy of God would be in this battle. He just told Joshua to take off his sandals for he was on holy ground - and in the Presence of the Holy One, the true Captain of the Angel Armies.

Tonight I feel that I am right where Joshua was. I am on my knees, my head bowed low, my heart stirred by the image of thousands upon thousands of mighty warring angels, armed for battle and receiving their assignments from Adonai Tzva'ot!  And I pray, "O Adonai Tzva'ot, You alone must get the glory in these battles. Cause Israel's leaders and soldiers to report to YOU and seek YOU for all wisdom and strategies. They must call upon YOUR Name! O Adonai I pray that You would surround them on all sides with this great Angel Army under Your command.  Humble them, as You humbled Joshua, and reveal to them that You are the sword-bearing Captain who is sovereign over all."
