I am honored to give this referral regarding Kelly Ferrari Mills. Not only was she a confidante and companion to me when my son passed away, but she also put together and officiated a powerful and comforting memorial service for him. I have known this lovely woman of great integrity for over twenty years and have watched her gather other families to help them with all the final arrangements, offering comfort, solace, and a beautiful, peaceful goodbye.

Kelly came to stay with us several days and nights when my wife, Pam, was on hospice and unresponsive. Kelly gave me a lot of much-needed respite as she tended to Pam's needs and comfort. But the best part of her visit was her interactions with Pam. As Kelly kept singing some of Pam's favorite songs, and reading the Bible to her, Pam began to slowly open her eyes and respond. Though she still didn't have the ability to talk, she began to smile and she even started trying to sing with Kelly! It was remarkable to see how Kelly's loving care and joyful spirit awakened my dear wife and gave me more time with her.

Kelly has walked through the valley of the shadow of death with her God, and has learned and been gifted to comfort those of us who have newly come to that same place. She has sweetly guided me through these last two years of watching my husband decline due to dementia brought on by seizures, all the way to organizing and leading his service to celebrate his life. Her gentle instruction in dealing with his increasing dementia was a major part of how she helped me to navigate those challenging times. A dear friend of mine struggled to describe the service he attended for my husband. As he labored to find the right words, he finally gently declared he had never been to a service that was so uplifting. What a tribute, not only to my dear husband, but to Kelly’s precious heart!

My mother's health sharply declined in early 2002 and she was placed in hospice. After several hospitalizations, she was able to come home with twenty-four-hour care. Our friend Kelly was aware of this and stunned me with an offer to come and live with my mother and care for her during her last days. Kelly's steadfast care, love and attention was “all in” and totally sacrificial. The authenticity of her walk with Christ, together with her skills and deep compassion, make her an outstanding End-of-Life Doula.

During one of the most difficult times in my life, when my mother was diagnosed with Leukemia and hospitalized for many months, Kelly became an extraordinary source of support and comfort, not just for my mother, but for our entire family. I was living far away and unable to be present with Mom, but Kelly was there, and she remained a steady presence by Mom’s bedside, offering both emotional and practical support. Kelly became a vital link between me, my siblings, and the medical team. She kept our family regularly informed about Mom’s condition, advocated for her needs, and ensured that she was never alone. As we entered the final days of my mother’s life, Kelly’s strength and grace carried us through. She helped us navigate incredibly difficult decisions with clarity and compassion. Her ability to bring people together in remembrance and healing was truly remarkable. After Mom’s passing, Kelly helped us greatly with the final arrangements. She crafted beautiful memorial and burial services and helped all our family to find healing and peace.

Kelly exudes joy and peace and has the capacity to bring that same shalom into the lives of those who are dying, as well as the loved ones there to support them. She is an intentional listener. Her heart is to serve and honor the wishes of those saying goodbye to their loved ones. It is not an exaggeration to say that Kelly has an extraordinary gift as an End-of-Life Doula. She demonstrates patience, wisdom, and compassion like few others I have known.
