Shalom dear friends,
As you know, I watch the events taking place in Israel very closely, and I watch to see how they might be lining up with Scripture and Prophecy. It is getting more and more fascinating! The geopolitical chess pieces are moving around so quickly right now, one can barely keep up! But one very recent change in the commanders of the Israeli Defense Force struck a chord in my heart for some reason. I saw in the news that former IDF Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevi, stepped down and he was replaced by a man named Eyal Zamir. As I've shared with you, I am enjoying the study of the Hebrew language and I'm at the very beginning, learning the alephbet, learning to write the Hebrew letters and sound out words. But what has always fascinated me about Hebrew is the profound and deep meanings, not only of each letter, but of each word. I wondered about the name of this man who is now in command over the entire Israeli Defense Force. I wondered what his Hebrew name meant and how it might speak to us about his character and his mission to lead the Israeli defense forces through the rest of this challenging war on so many fronts. So, here is what I found. Are you ready?! I looked up his last name first, the word Zamir. I found that it means singer or song! You can imagine how surprised I was. On the surface, I wondered what in the world a singer would have to do with the mighty and powerful role of Chief of Staff! But then I looked up his first name: Eyal. This Hebrew word means "strength or mighty power." "Aha" I exclaimed, "now THAT fits!" But what if I put the name all together? What deeper meaning might there be here? I asked the Holy Spirit that question and suddenly He caused me to remember the passage in 2 Chronicles 20, when Jehoshaphat and his armies were being threatened by a great and powerful army coming to attack them: 2 Chronicles 20:20-22: Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful." After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed MEN TO SING TO THE LORD AND TO PRAISE HIM FOR THE SPLENDOR OF HIS HOLINESS AS THEY WENT OUT AT THE HEAD OF THE ARMY, saying, "Give thanks to the LORD, for His love endures forever!" AS THEY BEGAN TO SING AND PRAISE, THE LORD SET AMBUSHES AGAINST THE MEN OF AMMON AND MOAB AND MOUNT SEIR WHO WERE INVADING JUDAH, AND THEY WERE DEFEATED. I am overcome at how profoundly this speaks of Eyal Zamir, Israel's new Chief of Staff! He is the Mighty and Powerful Singer! We can pray that he himself understands this connection, and encourages his soldiers to sing and praise the Lord for the splendor of His holiness! I did see several videos of I.D.F. soldiers in Gaza, gathered close together and singing songs of praise in Hebrew. I pray that under Eyal Zamir's leadership and command, all Israel will begin to fight in spiritual warfare, with MIGHTY AND POWERFUL SONGS OF PRAISE! I pray also that the ending of Chapter 20 will be prophetic of the end of this current war in Israel, as this is what happened in that ancient, historic battle under the command of Jehoshaphat. 2 Chronicles 20: 27-30: Then, led by Jehoshaphat, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned joyfully to Jerusalem, for the LORD had given them cause to rejoice over their enemies. They entered Jerusalem and went to the temple of the LORD with harps and lutes and trumpets. THE FEAR OF GOD CAME UPON ALL THE KINGDOMS AND COUNTRIES WHEN THEY HEARD HOW THE LORD HAD FOUGHT AGAINST THE ENEMIES OF ISRAEL. And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for HIS GOD HAD GIVEN HIM REST ON EVERY SIDE. GO FORTH, EYAL ZAMIR, MIGHTY AND POWERFUL SINGER, AND CONQUER ISRAEL'S ENEMIES WITH PRAISE!
