Even as I predicted in my last blog, Israel, the United States and Iran entered into war on the Shabbat before the feast of Purim. I have marveled at the precision in which God acts on His calendar, both past and present, but my heart sorrowed over the pictures of Israeli children trying to celebrate the feast in their bomb shelters.
I know there are many people watching the events of this war in the Middle East and scratching their heads, wondering what it is really all about. Today I just feel led to write this blog in the hope of answering that question biblically. I hope you will share this blog with the many who do not really understand. This war against Iran is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE. The Prince of Persia (see Daniel 10:13) is a demonic, spiritual principality over the region of Persia (Iran), led by Satan in direct opposition to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of Israel. So, what are Israel and the U.S. really fighting for? What is the real objective of this war? Who will win this ancient battle to reign from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem? Who will one day control the whole world and all its people as King of kings and Lord of lords? This great battle of the nations in the Middle East is all about the Temple Mount in Jerusalem where Lucifer still intends to "raise his throne above the stars of God." In Isaiah 14:12-14 we hear the words of the God of Israel speaking to Lucifer (Satan): "How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations. You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the Mount of Assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zion. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'" In essence, this explains why those following the ideology of Islam do not negotiate, and do not care if you kill them. They believe that their Mahdi (Messiah) will come when the world is in tremendous chaos, and their mission in life is to throw the nations into chaos and kill every Jew (and it follows, every Christian). Satan is the author of chaos and he is manifested as their false God Allah. So, whoever is victorious over these end-time battles will sit enthroned on the Mount of Assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zion. On October 7, 2023, Israel's enemies were stirred into a vicious, blood-thirsty frenzy over the news that Israel has the red heifers required for the service of the priests at the Temple. It was this event that precipitated what the Islamic world dubbed the "Al Aqsa Flood." The Al Aqsa Mosque sits atop the Temple Mount. Thus, this rampage of kidnapping, murdering, raping, and beheading Jewish men, women and children was really a demonstration of fervor and jealousy over the control of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. And I took note that Satan's fury against the Jews and Christians is so often referred to in Scripture as a "flood." Some examples of this: Revelation 12:15: Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a flood, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. (Note: the "woman" refers to Israel). Daniel 9:26: The people of the ruler who will come [Antichrist] will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. Daniel 11:40: At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North [Antichrist] will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. I am not trying to suggest or infer timelines for any of this, friends. That is never my purpose. I am just attempting to open our eyes to the bigger picture of what this war is really all about. Even as we read all these references to Satan/Prince of Persia/Ayatollah of Iran, we must keep our eyes fixed on this: the Temple Mount has a cornerstone. And the God of Israel says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts in Him will never be dismayed! (Isaiah 28:16) Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the Chief Cornerstone. In Him the whole building is being joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. (Ephesians 2:20-21) From Judah will come the Cornerstone, from Him the tent peg, from Him the battle bow, from Him every ruler. Together they will be like warriors in battle, trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets. They will fight because the Lord is with them, and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame. I will strengthen Judah and save the tribes of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them. They will be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them. (Zechariah 10:4-6) Then know this, you and all the people of Israel: it is by the name of Yeshua haMashiach (Jesus Christ) of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved! (Acts 4:11-12) So, fling your arrows, and lob your missiles, O Iranian enemies of the Most High God! The Temple will never be yours. The Temple belongs to Yeshua, the Cornerstone, the Eternal King, the Son of God, who will reign there forever and ever, amen! For here is what our God has prepared for YOU: "The grave below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you - all those who were leaders in the world: it makes them rise from their thrones - all those who were kings over the nations. They will all respond. They will say to you, "you also have become weak as we are; you have become like us. All your pomp has been brought down to the grave along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread beneath you and worms cover you." (Isaiah 14:9-11)
